The award-winning jewellery designer Emma Chapman uses gorgeous gemstones, precious metals and ancient couture techniques to create totally unique, regal heirloom treasures for the 21st century. Drawing on heritage traditions, her jewellery incorporates carving, engraving, enamel, jaali and embossed work. Her signature style is haute-bohemian in flavour, exotic and glamorous.
Emma Chapman jewels, responsibly sources materials and labour in Jaipur, India – a part of the world with a long and celebrated tradition of jewellery making. Emma has personal relationships with the craftspeople manufacturing for her as she lived and worked there for over 10 years while she set up her workshops. She always uses local goldsmiths, artisans and stone-cutters. They continue to meet regularly, as Emma spends several months of the year in Jaipur with them. She has been working with the same family-run workshops now for over 15 years.
Her inspiration is drawn from the motifs and patterns in sacred geometry in Islamic, Mughal, Arabic, Byzantine, Vedic and Buddhist architecture, and given a modern twist for Western wear. She also uses Mughal Art and floral motifs in her designs.
The brand has been featured in numerous magazines, including Vogue, Harpers, Tatler, Elle and Conde Nast Traveller. Her work is showcased at London Fashion Week and previously on several occasions at Premiere Classe, Paris Fashion Week.
Emma Chapman's jewellery has sold at Fenwick London, John Lewis, the Orient Express Venice Collection, and the Victoria & Albert Museum shop as part of their Best of British Collection. Also at various boutique hotel shops, notably the One & Only Resorts, and fashion and jewellery boutiques in the UK such as Felt London the USA and around the world, and via online retail outlets such as Astley Clarke. She was also commissioned to do a collection for the National Portrait Gallery to tie in with their Indian Portrait exhibition. She has been focusing mainly on online retail over the last few years.
